Putin is not Arbat's long-suffering wife - he does not need to be trustworthy to slee.. talk to him. do we trust the chinese? no. do we tlk to them? of course. by refusing to talk fiorina is marginalizing russia to the level of north korea. she is wrong. to me htis is a deal-breaker. if she got the nomination, i would not vote for her. ditto tramp. the last news - he came to "informally" ask to release a few bank accounts.
that was pretty much the main purpose of his visit.
i bet these accounts are not his - he was asking for his "friends"
the accounts were not released -he loses the internal support
The US think that once the russian government changes there will be some room for discussion.
So, there is no deliberate marginalization of Russia
The US might mistaken in their prognosis but I believe they want a dialogue with russians
they do not think that putin represents russians though anymore.

but not talking to heim is silly, IMHO. we don't need to do anything he asks for. but talking is important.
